Collaboration Within Networks - Closed Session - IT Directors - How Schools can use Tech as an Ally to Build Healthy Relationships and Strengthen School Community
Never before has the school day extended to 24/7. With collaborative online homework, all grade and all school chat rooms, parents and teachers emailing, the ‘school house’ and family home have merged. Not only have we lost the physical boundaries between school and home, but the school day continues all day and too often all night online. Students describe a big disconnect between who they are at school, and who they are online, and struggle with an online social media culture that is often the antithesis of school values. In this talk, Dr. CSA will help teachers deepen their understanding of the two worlds and different identities students must navigate. She will present strategies teachers can use for students of all ages to unify students split identities for the better, and tools for teaching students to use tech at school and at home as an ally for healthy relationships and building community. And finally, she will share new ways and research that help educators revision how to best use tech at school.
