Built on the pillars of diversity and pluralism, and enshrined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Canada is a country for all peoples. Our education systems form the backbone of our communities and act as the beacon of these important values. We have seen public school boards all over the country make direct attempts to address and redress issues of diversity and inclusion in real and tangible ways – how are our independent schools doing? In this Catalytic Conversation, we will look at the data of the recently completed CAIS 2018 Senior Leadership Diversity Survey and attempt to better understand the nature of diversity in CAIS schools at the senior leadership and employee levels (this conversation will not explicitly focus on student diversity). If we agree that greater diversity is generally seen as positive, what can we do to strategically and systematically increase diversity in our schools at the leadership level and beyond?
