45 minute session

An introduction to the grassroots teacher-research movement, founded in 2013 by British teacher Tom Bennett, aimed at exploring and challenging prevailing educational myths and exposing teachers to the latest research on & what works & in today's classrooms. Where's the evidence-based research to support such popular theories such as 21st century skills, learning styles, multiple intelligences, mindfulness, and a few other current favourites ? Engaging classroom teachers in evidence-informed discussion and practice is the fundamental goal of the researchED movement. Since its inception in September 2013 at Dulwich College, researchED has hosted dozens of conferences, spread to four continents, and touched the lives of 25,000 teachers. ResearchED Canada has sponsored three conferences, including researchED Ontario 2018, co-sponsored with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation. Our most recent conference, researchED Vancouver was hosted by a CAIS member school, Mulgrave School. located in West Vancouver.
