45 minute session

As individual CAIS schools, we are connected by a common narrative of providing a pre-eminent educational experience for young people. This narrative is a product of the time and care we take in articulating both who we are as institutions and what we want to become. Nowhere is the expression of our individual uniqueness and shared connectedness more apparent than in how we frame and articulate our respective missions. Leveraging research that comes from the fields of linguistics, readability analytics, and discourse analysis, this roundtable aims to explore if these statements, individually and collectively, reflect the kind of strength, complexity, and adaptability necessary to meet both the short and long-term challenges of a changing educational landscape. It hopes to give every independent school pause for thought: to encourage us to look more closely at how we express our missions, and to consider how we might reframe or reimagine our individual and collective narrative moving forward.
