Roundtable Discussion 1: Getting the Shovel in the Ground: The Building Journey

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

45 minute session

New Head. First ever build at a young school. Where to begin? From the beginning. We will share a model for planning, decision-making, communication, and resource management for the successful journey from design concept to getting the shovel in the ground. Here are a few of the key questions we will seek to answer: How does the Head ensure architects, engineers, advisors and designers honour the vision, the budget and the timeline? What decisions rest with the Board? What decisions rest with the Head and leadership team? How do you design a timeline that is reasonable and builds effective relationships with key players? Where does financing come in? What expertise is important for success? Bring your own experiences and your own building dreams. Whether you are new to campus development or just looking for a better way to navigate this complex journey, there will be lots to share!
