20 minute session

More than ever schools are dealing with complex issues within and outside of the classroom. These complex issues are often incorporated into a strategic plan to help move the organization forward through these challenges but they are sometimes difficult to track and measure. On the same front, these same organizations are accumulating a wealth of data where schools today manage large amounts data in multiple databases and store hundreds, if not thousands, of documents day-to-day. In some cases the ability to measure or track a goal is straightforward, such as the ability to verify a raise in an academic score, but when the question is complex or less tangible, the question therefore is how can we leverage data to assist data driven conversations? This session will explore this question by learning how a school explores its data to gain insight into some of its strategic plan's goals. By exploring the school's various data systems to help identify gaps and trends, data can present an additional perspective and share a story with stakeholders to help gain insight to an issue. Some examples will include how data analysis supports a school's initiative in team-teaching in large learning spaces, professional growth, student-teacher relationships, and student well-being.
